It's Tip Time...

Calling all former and present brides of Jeremy Hess Photographers...we've got a blogging challenge for you here!! Since Nicola is now engaged and has her own wedding to plan, we thought we'd try to help her out a lil. She's been to many weddings over the last few years so we are sure she has some ideas of what she wants BUT...we thought it would be fun to get your thoughts and ideas to help her out!

So why don't you leave a comment with a tip or a piece of advice as she begins the process of planning. Maybe you know of some discounts or special deals going on somewhere. For those of you who may know her maybe you have an idea what kind of dress you think would look best. So come on...give a tip and help her out!

Hey Nicola
Here is some tips for you... less is more i found that with my wedding it was easier to focus on the importance of what was really happening without being bombarded with tons and tons of decorations( which also helped keep the price down). I also found a nursery, near lancaster but if you are intrested i can get you the info, which will rent you any plant they have for half the price they are selling it for. I was able to get live plants for the ceremony for $5! As far as a dress, my dress was made by Casablanca, which just have really elegant dresses. I don't know if you remember my dress ,June 14, but it was a really neet matted stan fabric. So check out Casablanca, which are sold at Classic Weddings in Lititz, great store and the company does you hem for you so you don't have to pay to get it hemed, also a money saver. As far as keeping things inexpensive, look for things at thriftstores!
Good luck and enjoy the process of planning!

Dear Nicola: You have yet to photography my wedding, in October, 2008, but I highly advised that a wedding coordinator, like The Perfect Plan by Lori Hemphill. If you are like me and are doing everything ala cart; its well worth the money. I also highly recommend Bev's Bridal in Quarryville for all dresses and tuxes. They are extremely helpfuly and understanding. Finally, I recommend Petals and Beans, Strasburg, for your florist. You can give Stacia a budget and she will give you what you want within that budget. If you have any additional question feel free to ask, me or any other bride. Good Luck and congrates.

Hi Nicola,

I'm sure you will get more advice than you want for your wedding as time keeps going by, but here is mine. =) Think about the weddings you have been to and which one you thought was the most special/significant/etc. If you have a couple favorite then try to think WHY you liked them the best. My dad told me this when I first got engaged and it actually really helped me to put together my wedding day. I was able to focus on making the wedding personal (what I thought was most important) with a simple elegance that I had admired at others' weddings. So, basically figure out what you want to stand out to others as they remember your wedding and what will make it mean the most to you. =)
Maybe that is too vague, but it helped me. =)
Best of luck and I'll be praying for your day!

Hey Nicola,
Once you put on your beautiful wedding gown, Forget About IT! :) Your dress will be dirty by the end of the day, so have fun with it, don't let the dress become your focus for the day. You don't seem to be the type of girl that would 'worship' your dress though. As you can see I have an opinion about this. :) Have a good time and relax.
Blessings to you,
Jodi Gehman
